Happy Twitter Pitching, #PitchMAS-ers!!! WE ARE LIVE!

IT'S TIME FOR OUR TWITTER PITCH PARTY!!!

*Throws confetti and caffeine*

WOOHOOO! It's time! It's time!

--->Pitching will go all day long, as agents and editors don't have room for much rigidity in their schedules this time of year, so we want to leave it open to them. Be patient and watch for them to hop onto the thread. Most will announce themselves and tweet instructions for submitting to them once they've liked your pitch.

--->The agents/editors will respond to or favorite the pitches they want to request. IF an agent or editor does not respond, but favorites your pitch instead, please view their feed to see if they've mentioned what they want from you,
OR ASK ONE OF US FOR HELP by tweeting directly to @JessaRusso or @FeakySnucker.

-->NEVER NEVER NEVER pitch directly to an agent or editor UNLESS THEY HAVE ASKED.
Please follow this simple rule... at all times, not just during pitch events.

--->If you did not get through to the top 50 during our blog pitching portion of #PitchMAS, and even if you did, please join us for the Twitter Pitch Party!
ANYONE can participate!

--->BUT, your manuscript MUST BE COMPLETED AND POLISHED.

Did you read that? Go back and read it again. We'll wait. *whistles*

Completed and polished. Please, please, please do not pitch a bare-bones idea/concept or a half-written manuscript. No one will sign incomplete novels, and they'll just be disappointed when they request pages that don't exist. This makes us sad.
*If you just wrote this manuscript during NaNoWriMo, congratulations! You wrote a book! But, sadly--and realistically--chances are it is not ready.

--->Twitter pitches MUST BE 140 Characters or Less, and they HAVE TO INCLUDE THE #PitchMAS HASHTAG

--->Don't make the agents and editors work to read what you're pitching because you've broken your pitch into more than one tweet. Don't make them follow a link. Just, NO. That will just annoy them, irritate your fellow pitchers, and ensure that your pitch gets lost among the others.

--->Please keep your Twitter pitching to no more than TWO PITCHES PER MANUSCRIPT, PER HOUR. Do not flood the feed with your pitch over and over again. This, too, will annoy the agents and editors involved, as well as ruining it for everyone else--which I know you don't really want to do, do you? (Plus, people WILL remember you for it.)

Twitter pitch parties are a LOT of fun--trust us, we've both done many as both hosts and pitchers--but please don't get carried away. TWO PITCHES PER HOUR is plenty, and doesn't bog down the feed.

Please respect us, the agents and editors participating, and your fellow writers by respecting these rules.

You are welcome to pitch more than one manuscript, but please only pitch EACH manuscript no more than TWICE per hour.

Follow along with the hashtag: #PitchMAS

Side note: Make sure you follow us on Twitter. (We often post the same #PitchMAS related info, but you never know when only one of us will tweet something important, AND we tend to tweet from our personal accounts way more frequently than our poor, neglected PitchMAS account.)

Need a bit more pitch-honing help for Friday's Twitter event? More peer critique!

We thought you might want a bit more peer critique for those Twitter pitches!! Use the comment section below to post your Twitter pitches and help one another hone them into lean, mean, agent/editor-catching machines!

***Don't forget that tomorrow's blog post pitches will be off-limits for commenting UNLESS you are an agent or editor making a request.***

Whether or not you are chosen as part of the Top 50 blog pitches, please join us for the Twitter Pitch Party on Friday, December 18thThis will go on *all day long*, and agents/editors will respond to or favorite the pitches they want to request. We know that *all day* is not an exact time-frame, but judge's schedules don't always allow for rigidity near the holidays. Tweet when you wake up. It ends when people are done making requests. Sometimes they come back a few times.
Sometimes they come back the next day.

Remember that your pitch MUST contain the hashtag (#PitchMAS) and if you can squeeze in a hashtag with category or genre, that's great too, but don't sweat it if you can't.

Here are a couple examples of tweets I (Jessa) used in #SFFPit and #PitMAd last year. Both versions received requests, and I eventually found my agent and a contract with REUTS for this book through these connections.

My point is...
Contests WORK.
Twitter pitching WORKS.
Just keep pitching.

Biblical rain? Check.
ARK of "dreams"? So they say.
40 days with reluctant "mate"? No thanks.
Repopulate the new world? HELL NO.

Part of a select few aboard the ARK, 20yos Ana & Marco have 40days& 40nights to change their fate or become breeders.
